Our Little Ninja program is there to provide young children with the specific life skills whilst offering energetic, exciting activities that aim to put the fun back into physical fitness.
The classes are specifically designed for ages 4 to 6 years which allows us to focus on the key areas that need developed at this point in their lives.
We concentrate on the following life skills.
Taking into account the age of our little ninjas, we don’t overwhelm them with a normal (traditional) martial arts program but instead focus on the positive life skills that serve them well for school and the rest of their lives.
We understand that a young child’s nervous system is different from an older child, so we spend a lot of time teaching fundamentals in order to build a strong foundation for when they do move onto the more complicated techniques.
Once the children reach a certain level of maturity and can demonstrate a strong understanding of the core skills needed, that’s when we introduce them to our ProComp Kids program which takes them further into their martial arts training.
Martial arts classes foster respect in all senses of the word. Your children will learn not only to respect others, but to respect themselves as well. Self-confidence is key in carrying respect into the home, school, and other social situations. Simply put, martial arts is about a lot more than learning how to punch and kick. It's about learning hard work, discipline, and perseverance. The lessons about respect your child learns through martial arts will mold them into a better person overall. Our program incorporates martial arts with other fun drills and activities, for a unique blend of activities that's both educational and engaging. Our curriculum draws from the traditional martial art of TaeKwonDo and the blended styles of American Karate and Kickboxing that insures ur students get a very well rounded training regimen.
We promote a positive social environment at ProComp Sport Martial Arts Academy that is inclusive and encouraging. Kids will have a chance to make memories with their existing friends, and make new friends too. All activities are fully organized and supervised, so you can be assured that your child's safety is a top priority while they're having fun with their peers. We have separate classes for our PreSchool aged children as well with a specific curriculum for their level that is age-appropriate.
Our history is one of championships won in a big way! We compete on both the ProMac regional circuit which is a feeder to the NASKA World Tour. Mr. Watkins has trained 31 National Champions and 3 Top Ten World Finishers in his career, and is bringing the same energy and attention to detail that we always have to create champions in the ring and in life! Our teams will have the opportunity to test their craft against some of the best martial arts athletes in the world! We have already made a lot of noise on the national level in just a short amount of time! Get ready! Big things are coming to Gilmer!
Our After-School Martial Arts Program for Harmony and Gilmer ISDs offers parents a fun, exciting and educational alternative to daycare, extended care and standard after-school activities. XMA is a combination of techniques, methods of movements and philosophies from all martial arts styles. It is a mixture of virtually all martial arts styles blended together with high-flying acrobatics and gymnastics. It is what you are seeing on TV, in the movies and on the internet. The goal of XMA is to take the skills our students have and take them to the “Xtreme” level and to challenge the students to become better than they thought possible. Common moves include the butterfly roundkick, backtuck, 540 Crescent kick, double jump front kick, L-kick, and Kip-up. This is blended with the use of weapons such as Nunchuku, Bo Staff, Kamas, and Sword!
Mike Chat, creator of XMA, describes his program as: “The ability to perform highly skilled moves and also the ability to perform basic moves and make them look spectacular! This is why XMA is not only for the elite level athletes and competitors, but also for beginners at the entry level as well. It is the look in one’s eyes and position of one’s body that tells the story. It’s not only about punching and kicking, or jumping and flipping, but more, showing strength through the mind as well as the body. To stand planted with your feet on the ground and command the attention of the audience without sound or movement, using only the look in your eyes and the strength of your stance, actually shows more power than any punch, kick or flip. That’s Xtreme!”
Beyond attaining physical fitness and practicing self-defense, our martial arts philosophy shapes successful human beings – true champions – ready to make a positive impact on our world. By reinforcing family values such as respect, self-control, honesty and integrity, and sharing traditional martial arts knowledge, our students grow in self-confidence and practical life skills. They learn to confront and overcome their fears and doubts so that they can stand strong among their peers as true leaders.
With more than two decades of experience, our professional instructors and motivational experts continue to make ProComp Sport Martial Arts the very best in martial arts training for your family!

Clayton Watkins began his martial arts training at the age of 9 at Northeast Tae Kwon Do in Paris, Texas under the expert instruction of Ms. Brandy Roberts, National Champion and World Team Qualifier. He began for the same reason that many student begin their training: a lack of confidence in himself. He lacked the natural raw talent that many in his classes had, but he had the determination to outwork and outlast. He achieved the rank of 1st Degree Blackbelt in 1998 at the age of 13 and 2nd Degree Blackbelt in 2000 at the age of 15.
Shortly there after, his instructor closed her school and so he continued his training under one of her top students, Ms. Reagan Barham. When she left the martial arts to pursue her studies at Law School in 2001, Mr. Watkins was left without an instructor, but still had the fire in him that the martial arts had placed there. So in 2002 at the age of 17, Mr. Watkins took a dive into what would forever change his life; becoming a Professional Martial Arts instructor. He began in the gym at his church, but knew this would not be a longterm solution to the plans he had. So with the total amount of $1,000 that he had saved by working on his Dad’s farm, he purchased a meager amount of equipment and rented a space east of Paris, Tx that had no air conditioning or heat, but he made it work.
Not knowing anything about operating a business or how to promote, he just did what he knew best, taught Tae Kwon Do. But he knew that he had to get more training and he still wanted to progress in the ranks as well for his own personal development, so he joined the then National Tae Kwon Do Federation of America as an affiliate School owner. He signed the charter in Fayetteville, Arkansas after attending a tournament there in February 2003. He graduated High School in May of that year and began attending Paris Jr College and eventually Texas A&M University in Commerce, Texas where he would graduate with his Bachelor of Science in 2013. His school began to grow as he relocated to a shopping center, then again to another space as he was running out of room for his classes. He relocated two more times and his final location in Paris was 5,200 sq. feet with 2 workout areas, 1 introductory area, pro shop, and offices. Mr. Watkins also promoted several tournaments in conjunction with the Europa Fitness Supershow held at the Dallas Convention Center in Dallas, Texas.
Over the course of 13 years in business, he personally trained 31 national champions and 2 Top Ten World finishers, and was ranked 7th in the world in 2011, and coached on the World Level for 8 years. He also was a founding member of the Elite Martial Arts Alliance in 2006. In 2013, Mr. Watkins was inducted into the US Martial Arts Hall of Fame as the Multi-Disciplined Instructor of the year. Two months later, he achieved his 5th Degree Blackbelt in Houston Texas at the National Sport Karate Museum annual Blackbelt Test.
In 2015, the school was sold as Mr. Watkins and his family left Paris to attend Seminary at Arlington Baptist University where he received his Master’s of Arts in Biblical and Theological Studies and then moved to Escazu’, Costa Rica where they did some short term ministry there. Life has happened, and Mr. Watkins has returned to the States. He has 4 wonderful children; Melody, Jillian, Conner, and Eva, and is married to the love of his life, Maria. He is loving being a part of Gilmer and so excited about how well all of his students are doing in class and in tournaments as well!
