A class that starts where the school day ends
Our Tyler after-school program is built around one piece of geography: Caldwell Arts Academy is right next door to the ProComp academy on University Place. On the two days a week the class runs, students are walked over from the academy to our mat, train in a karate class, and finish the afternoon at the dojo instead of waiting on a ride.
That arrangement is the whole point of the program. There is no bus route to coordinate and no second address to remember — the class happens in the building next to the school, taught by the same black belt instructors who run our evening karate classes at 117 University Place. Kids get a structured, physical end to the school day, and parents get an afternoon that doesn't have to be split in two.
Because it is a karate class, students are learning the curriculum our Tyler academy teaches every week: traditional karate technique, practical self-defense, and the discipline that comes from bowing in, listening, and working with a partner. It is a real class with a real instructor — not a supervised waiting room.
